Consumer Confidence in Travel Is Soaring

Though travel never left the hearts of groups during the pandemic, new research has found that making it a reality is now firmly on their minds.

According to U.S. Travel Association's Monthly Travel Recovery Data Report from May, nearly nine in 10 Americans have plans to travel in the next six months, which is an exciting new pandemic high.

The most recent Longwoods International tracking study of American travelers also shares promising information, showing that as of June 23, 2021, 88% of travelers have plans in the next six months—up from 57% in December of 2020.

"The 2021 leisure travel boom is real," said Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International. "Barring any setbacks battling COVID-19, we expect robust growth for the rest of the year."

32% of respondents have said that COVID-19 is no longer influencing their travel plans whatsoever. But what type of activities and motivations are fueling travelers to get on the road again?

  • 53% say they're traveling mainly to visit friends and family.
  • 46% are simply taking a road trip.
  • 44% have shopping on the mind.
  • 43% are seeking a beach or waterfront to enjoy.
  • 33% want to explore a city.
  • 29% plan to visit a national or state park or monument.
