Who Is Your Hero?

The new Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex exhibit, Heroes & Legends featuring the U.S. Astonaut Hall of Fame presented by Boeing, relives America's earliest space missions and explores the concept of heroism and the qualities that define individuals who inspire their generations.

Heroes & Legends combines cutting-edge technology with mesmerizing special effects, priceless artifacts and thought-provoking exhibits to introduce visitors to the heroes of the NASA space program—the pioneers who made space exploration possible.

Four distinct experiences allow opportunities for visitors to learn about the heroes behind the transformative and historical events that have shaped the way humans look at space, the world and the future:

What is a Hero? offers diverse perspectives on how society defines heroism through a seven-minute presentation that explores the historic beginning of the space race, NASA's early years, and the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

Through the Eyes of a Hero, presented in a custom-built theater featuring a multisensory 4-D experience, invites guests to join NASA's heroes and legends on the most perilous stages of their missions. The show uses lighting, sound and special effects to fully immerse visitors in the awe, excitement and dangers of the first crewed space program missions with space-age heroes Alan Shepard, Neil Armstrong, John Glenn and James Lovell.

A Hero Is ... delivers interactive exhibits to highlight the attributes of NASA's history-making astronauts through holograms and augmented reality.

The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame is housed in a magnificent rotunda and connects guests to each of the astronaut inductees through state-of-the-art interactive technology. It also offers visitors an opportunity to pose with one of the Mercury astronaut heroes and legends for a photo.
