The World of Avatar Coming to Disney Summer 2017
Floating mountains, bioluminescent rainforests and soaring Banshees: Walt Disney World's future looks a lot like the film Avatar. On Saturday, November 19, 2016, Bob Chapek, chairman, Disney Parks and Resorts, unveiled a new expansion to Disney's Animal Kindgom for summer 2017: Pandora—The World of Avatar.
In collaboration with filmmaker James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney is bringing the mythical world of Pandora to life. The expansion will feature two new signature attractions for guests to explore the world of Pandora. Guests could fly over the jungles of Pandora on a Mountain Banshee on Avatar Flight of Passage, or enjoy a family-friendly boat ride through the bioluminescent forests on Na'vi River Journey.
Satu'li Canteen, Pandora's main dining establishment, will feature Na'vi art and cultural items. Pongu Pongu, a drink location, will offer a design as unique as its Expat owner. Guests could also purchase Na'vi cultural items, toys, science kits and more at Pandora's gift shop, Windtraders.
