Groups Today: What does it mean to you to be a woman leader in the group travel industry?
Ragan Andrew: It means being both a pathfinder and a bridge. I get to create spaces where people connect deeply—with each other, with culture, and with themselves. As a woman, I lead with heart, intuition, and strategy, and I'm honored to model what leadership can look like when purpose and people come first.
GT: How would you describe your approach to leadership?
RA: Relational, intentional, and spirit-led. I believe leadership is less about hierarchy and more about building meaningful connections, empowering others, and creating opportunities for shared growth. I listen well, pivot when needed, and always lead with clarity and kindness.
GT: What are some of your favorite accomplishments so far?
RA: Launching faith-based and healing-centered group retreats has been deeply fulfilling. I'm proud of helping senior travelers rediscover their sense of adventure, and I recently facilitated a leadership retreat designed specifically for women reclaiming their voices—both professionally and personally.
GT: As a woman entrepreneur in group travel, what challenges have you faced—and how have you overcome them?
RA: One challenge has been educating others about the value of curated, purpose-driven group travel—especially in a world that often chases quick, transactional experiences. I've overcome this by staying true to my mission, consistently showing up with excellence, and cultivating partnerships that align with my values.
GT: What impact do you hope your work will continue to have on clients and peers?
RA: I want my clients to feel seen, safe, and inspired to live fully through travel. For my peers, I hope to be a reminder that purpose and profit can coexist. I aim to leave a legacy of intentional leadership and transformative experiences.
GT: What's your personal mantra—or travel philosophy—that guides your work?
RA: "Don't just travel—transform." I believe travel should nourish the soul, challenge your perspective, and lead you back to yourself more whole than when you left.
GT: What are your goals for the future?
RA: I plan to expand Adrift into hosting annual global retreats for women in leadership and healing professions, launch a mentorship program for emerging travel professionals, and continue bridging communities through shared experiences around the world.
