Are You Ready to Celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week?
National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is approaching! From May 4–10, 2025, this annual tradition aims to spotlight travel's essential role in driving economic growth, creating jobs and enhancing quality of life across the United States. There a number of ways to celebrate. Keep reading to learn some of them!
Established in 1983, NTTW brings this $2.9 trillion industry that supports 15 million American jobs together each May to recognize the impact of travel—in every corner of the country. Recognizing that one in every 11 U.S. jobs depend on travel—making it a critical driver of our economy and a force for connection and opportunity—it's imperative to help spread the word about travel's power.
Some ideas for getting the word out include ...
SPREADING FACTS
- The travel industry is a cornerstone of the U.S. economy, generating $1.3 trillion in spending.
- Leisure travel remains the backbone of the industry, accounting for $1 trillion in spending in 2024, with 82% of domestic trips taken for leisure purposes.
- Travel-generated tax revenue reached $190 billion in 2024; each household would pay $1,490 more in taxes without the tax revenue generated by travel.
- Address barriers to growth, such as the need to modernize technologies related to identity verification technology and visa processing.
