Ski Destinations for Snow Lovers
For some groups, there's no better thrill than stepping out into the crisp winter air and hitting the slopes on some fresh powder. From iconic alps to hidden gems, check out these top ski destinations groups won't want to miss whooshing through.
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CALIFORNIA
Though Mammoth is a four-season resort, there's nothing like surging down its 81 trails and 3,500 skiable acres during the ski season (which typically lasts November through June). Mammoth clocks in with a 11,053-foot summit—the tallest summit in the state, which makes for stunning views and deeper snow. It's not unusual for Mammoth to be the first California resort to open for skiing and the last to close each year.
MOUNT SNOW, VERMONT
Found in West Dover in southern Vermont, Mount Snow is a dream come true for ski lovers. With a total of 20 lifts today, Mount Snow was one of the very first ski resorts on the East Coast. It's also easy to get to, located a mere two and half hours from Boston and four hours from NYC.
NUB'S NOB, MICHIGAN
Soak up the beauty of northern Michigan at Nub's Nob, which sees approximately 123 inches of annual natural snowfall. Groups could enjoy this under-the-radar Harbor Springs gem and all it has to offer, including 53 ski runs, and 58 lodges, hotels and condominiums within a 15-mile radius.
COPPER MOUNTAIN, COLORADO
Known as "The Athlete's Mountain," Copper Mountain is located only 75 miles west of Denver and offers over 2,500 acres of naturally-divided terrain and world-class mountain venues. Here, groups will find 155 trails, 24 lifts and a stunning summit elevation of 12,441 feet. 2021 saw the launch of the new Western Territory and expanded adventure zones—perfect for the ambitious beginner.
SNOWBIRD, UTAH
Averaging more than 500 inches of snowfall a year, Snowbird recently celebrated 50 years as North America's most accessible alpine resort destination. Located only 29 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport, Snowbird provides year-round big mountain experiences at the top of Utah through its iconic Aerial Tram and 2,500 acres of legendary terrain.
WHISTLER BLACKCOMB, WHISTLER, BRITISH COLUMBIA
Among the splendor of British Columbia is Whistler Blackcomb, two side-by-side mountains offering groups 8,171 acres of skiable terrain, in addition to 37 lifts and over 200 marked trails. The white fluffy stuff abounds, with the destination boasting a yearly average of 448 inches of snow. Adventurous groups could even take advantage of the resort's heli-ski offerings!
