Celebrate the Season: 50th Annual Autumn Glory Festival

Fall evokes feelings of warm days and crisp, cool nights—and the mountains of western Maryland embody these feelings with incredible fall foliage and exciting celebrations.

The annual Autumn Glory Festival, held in early October, is a five-day celebration filled with a variety of events including craft and antique shows, musical competitions, parades and so much more. The festival will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2017—making it a monumental and must-see occasion.

Autumn Glory has gained quite a bit of recognition over the years and was even named top among fall festivals by MSN.com as well as named one of America's Best Towns for Fall Colors by Travel & Leisure.

Fall foliage driving tours are quite popular, and every year new routes are developed for visitors to enjoy some of our brightly colored beauties around the county. Visitors could even enjoy historical attractions along the way, as the region—Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West—is one of Maryland's thirteen heritage areas.

An insider tip for visitors: enjoy one of our local turkey dinners. Autumn Glory began as a local turkey grower's festival, so to have a turkey dinner is to enjoy a taste of history. The festival is end-capped with a car show and the infamous No Hands Ice Cream Sundae Eating Contest, sure to leave participants with sweet memories of this fantastic festival.
