Canadian Travel at Bargain Prices

An interesting piece was recently published in Travel Industry Today. The author, David Tait, is utterly dismayed over how little press the state of the Canadian-to-American exchange rate has received.

Today, your group travelers could get a great deal by visiting this land to the north. It behooves you to talk to them about this Canadian bargain—now!

The article begins with Tait emphasizing that due to the current value of the Canadian loonie, everything American travelers purchase in Canada could be bought at a 25 percent to 30 percent discount. It may be cheaper for groups to travel to Canada than it is for them to visit stateside attractions.

Tait is calling this phenomenon "The Bargain Next Door," and provided this example to illustrate his point: "A night at the beautiful, newly refurbished Ritz-Carlton Montreal (on a randomly chosen date of May 15) will cost CAD $463, which translates to a bargain USD $345. By contrast, the same night at the Ritz in Boston will cost a guest USD $645—that's $300 more than a night in Montreal!"

While we know all of your groups won't be lodging at the Ritz, Tait's example does bring this discount reality to life. Additionally, the price of gas is low. If your travelers are close enough to drive to Canada, their journey will be relatively inexpensive.

Canada is filled with natural beauty, mountains, lake, glaciers, fun festivals, cultural attractions and more. Your groups could now enjoy all this magnificent country has to offer, at a fraction of the price.
