Books, Art and Gardens

The Huntington is a world-renowned center of art and culture set amidst 120 acres of breathtaking gardens. Three art galleries and a library showcase magnificent collections of rare books and historic manuscripts, such as the Gutenberg Bible and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and priceless works of art including Thomas Gainsborough's Blue Boy and Thomas Lawrence's Pinkie.

Botanical rarities flourish in gardens devoted to children, roses, camellias, tropicals, deserts, and the Japanese and Chinese Gardens. Explore our new Brody California Drought Tolerant Garden. Special exhibits include: The Artist's Garden: American Impressionism and the Garden Movement, 1887–1920, January 23 through May 9, 2016, and Geographies of Wonder, Part 1: Origin Stories of America's National Parks, 1872-1933, May 14 through September 3, 2016, followed by Part 2: Geographies of Wonder: Evolution of the National Park Idea 1933–2016, October 22, 2016, through February 13, 2017.
