A Time of Reflection, Remembrance and Reunion

Military appreciation is a way of life in Clarksville, Tennessee—a city that borders the Fort Campbell Army Post. This year, the city is publicly showing its support with the fourth annual Welcome Home Veterans Celebration, September 12 – 16, 2018.

Hosted by Visit Clarksville and the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition, the five-day celebration celebrates and honors veterans across the years, miles and conflicts.

"The Clarksville-Montgomery County community recognizes and honors veterans and active-duty soldiers all year long," said Visit Clarksville Chairman Jerry Allbert. "But this event is a special opportunity for the entire community to come together and collectively show our support and appreciation for veterans in meaningful ways."

Activities for the 2018 Welcome Home Veterans Celebration include:

Remembering Our Fallen
A new addition to the event this year, the photographic exhibit is designed to remind Americans of the ultimate sacrifice made by those who died from wounds suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan.

American Traveling Tribute Wall
At 360 feet in length, the Traveling Wall is an 80 percent scale version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The wall contains every name that is etched on the original monument. A wreath laying and massing of the colors will take place at the wall Thursday, September 13, at 3:30 p.m.

Field of Honor – Veterans Tribute
Part of a nationally recognized community program, the Field of Honor will pay tribute to the strength and unity of Americans and will honor veterans who served the nation.

Welcome Home Parade
Historic Downtown Clarksville will welcome hundreds of veterans for the Welcome Home Parade. Veterans will be honored with marching bands, JROTC units, active duty soldiers, floats and more. After the parade, there will be a picnic in the Downtown Commons—complete with a barbecue cook-off, local food trucks and music.
