A Family-Friendly East Coast Destination
Ocean City, Maryland, has always been considered a family-friendly East Coast resort, but the offerings are now even greater for students, performing groups and multigenerational groups. The addition of the new Performing Arts Center, located within the OC Convention Center, brings a 1,200 multilevel seating venue to this resort town.
Introductory pricing is still available for this facility's inaugural year. Ocean City provides a fun backdrop for performing groups, and outside venues near the world-famous three-mile Boardwalk and area parks could be arranged.
Travelers with an eye on education will enjoy the coastal bays offered by an area sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the country's largest estuary, the Chesapeake Bay. Two national parks, Assateague Island National Seashore and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, are in close proximity to Ocean City. Minutes from Ocean City, Assateague boasts wild ponies roaming free and offers opportunities for park ranger-facilitated programs. Blackwater, an hour from Ocean City, is famous for the Atlantic Flyway, migrating birds and its resident bald eagles. Soon, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Park will come online, right outside the entrance to Blackwater.
Just south of Ocean City, groups can avail themselves of the Delmarva Discovery Center, a mecca of rural heritage. NASA's Wallops Island Flight Facility is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Tours of this very active launch facility can be arranged according to the group's special interest.
Ocean City is your base for these venues with a multitude of accommodations, dining and attractions to suit any age group.
