50th Anniversary Celebration at Gateway Arch
Mark your calendars! Join us October 24 and 28 for special events celebrating the Gateway Arch's 50th anniversary!
The world's tallest arch and the tallest monument in the Western Hemisphere, the Gateway Arch was constructed as a monument to westward expansion. Come celebrate St. Louis' most famous landmark!
Arch 50 Fest: Saturday, October 24, 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
At this free, all-day bash located in Kiener Plaza, enjoy music from St. Louis-area bands, eats and drinks from local establishments, a kid's village, and more! A world-class fireworks display showcasing the Arch will end the night.
Gateway Arch 50th Anniversary Events: Wednesday, October 28
Don't miss this day full of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the final piece being placed at the top of the Gateway Arch! Events ranging from a recognition ceremony with local dignitaries, to $1 Journey to the Top tram rides and free cupcakes will mark the anniversary in style! Additionally, all visitors who take a tram ride to the top will receive a "Top of the Arch" lapel button and an "I went to the Top" certificate, both modeled after pieces from the 1960s.
Meet the Builders | Missouri History Museum: Wednesday, October 28
At this free event, meet the builders of the Gateway Arch from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.! Pose for photos and get builder autographs in the lower level of the Missouri History Museum. After the event, enjoy a free public lecture on Arch history, The Gateway Arch: An Icon for Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, from 12 – 1p.m. in the Missouri History Museum Auditorium. The new exhibit Arch Perspectives will be on display in the lower level of the History Museum, showcasing various photos of the Arch through the years. The exhibit will be on display from August 22 until January 24, 2016. Free screenings of the award-winning documentary Monument to the Dream will be offered throughout the day in the museum auditorium.
