Tips for Solving Writer’s Block

Nobody is immune to writer's block!

Whether you're drafting up a new client email, a blog on your latest trip, social post or otherwise, sometimes the words just won't come. Thankfully, writer's block isn't permanent. Keep reading for a couple tips for wriggling out of its grasp when it rears its ugly head.

Examine what you haven't written about.
If you've written about top winter destination spots in Colorado but haven't yet explored what there's to do in the spring or summer, you've got your next article idea. Think of the opposite of some existing material and you may be surprised with what ideas you can come up with.

Think about the before, during and after.
Perhaps you've written about preparing for a trade show and everything you'll need to pack and account for beforehand in order to be successful. But what about once your there or after you return home? Use this "timeline" logic as a way to fully build out a topic throughout various articles.

When all else fails, seek out some prompts or ask a colleague for their perspective.
The internet is your oyster—use it! Prompts can help get the wheels turning, even if it's not exactly the final content you're going to end up using. It's also helpful to step outside yourself as much as possible. This allows you the potential to approach a topic from an angle you may have never considered.
