Can You See Me Now? 6 Tips to Go Live.
Want to reach new audiences in new ways, and connect with them instantly? Go live! Live streaming allows you to interact with clients (and potential clients) in real time. There are plenty of sites—Facebook Live, Periscope and YouNow, to name a few. If you're planning on incorporating live streaming into your social media marketing strategies, consider the following tips:
1. Promote your broadcast ahead of time.
Build the anticipation and let people know when you'll be broadcasting live.
2. Have a strong connection.
Verizon ingrained it in us: Can you hear me now? Signals are lost, and connections weak. Maybe you're planning on live-streaming a maple sugar tapping out in the woods of Connecticut. Check to make sure you have a strong signal before going live. WiFi tends to work best, but if you can't find a nearby network, you'll want a 4G connection.
3. Write a compelling description.
Capture your fans' attention and help them understand what your broadcast is about. For example, if you're on a tour and stopping by a maple syrup demonstration, consider: Will Sasquatch show up to this maple syrup demonstration? Or, more seriously: We're tapping trees for maple syrup this morning. Wish you were here? Learn how it's done, and next year when you join us, you'll be a pro.
4. Ask what your viewers can do for you.
Ask your audience to follow you! Viewers can choose to follow you on your current live videos, and even videos that were already live. Let them know they can opt-in to get notifications the next time you go live.
5. Interact with your commenters.
Say "hey" to your commenters by name, respond to their comments and answer their questions. They'll love it, and they'll like you ... they'll really like you!
6. Broadcast for longer periods of time to reach more people.
The longer you broadcast, the more likely people are to discover your broadcast. Try to stay live for at least 10 minutes.
